2010 Fishing Reports

MONSTER BLUES AND BOTTOM FISHING

Out again with Stan Lee and his friends from NY.  We headed south today and were immediately greeted with Big blues pushing bunker faster that when could keep up with them.  We threw everything at them.  They were gorging on the very fat size adult bunker.  We even had a seen from jaws with a live one on our line up at the surface.  Savages!!!  I'm not sure we had fun with the blues or they had fun with us!  Such insane blitz that we lost a lot due to very sharp teeth!!!  After a while we decide to hit some rough spots for flounder and Sea Bass.  We did just that.  Nice big fat fluke came over the rail by Stan.  Repeat performance from his last trip with the pool winner!  On the way home we just had to stop in for some more Big mean Blue action as they were still feeding!!!  Don't they ever take a break???
remember we have an open boat trip planned for this coming weekend.  Still have 4 spots left.  Capt. John

Family Fun in The Sun

Roberto Weinman was out today with his daughter, son in law and grand children.  We started out in the bay looking for anything that would bend a pole.  Nothing happening with the slack tide, so we snuck outside for a short time and got some kids into a few fish.  The smiles are whats it's all about.

FANTASTIC FLOUNDER FISHING

Out this Saturday with Jane Zhao and her family.  It was too rough to hit the ocean, so we stayed inside.  It was an all day affair of catching fluke, but hard finding keepers.  Everyone had a blast with the steady action of fish.  We moved inside on the flats in only 4' of water and still found them good as we switched over to much lighter gear for some real fighting action.  A nice day with lots of fish!

CANYON VARIETY NEVER KNOW WHAT YOUR GOING TO CATCH

We were out this past Saturday into Sunday on an overnight Open Boat Canyon Trip.  We stopped at the 30 fathom line when we saw tuna busting all over the surface chasing bait.  We were in a hurry running offshore, but couldn't resist this.   So as fast as Seafood goes, she can stop on a dime when we see something like this.  We immediately put a nice bluefin in the box.  Very quickly we had three more that were released.  Even though they were still boiling under bait we all voted to continue off to find something different.  We pulled into the Hudson on the east side where I read some good water and set up for the night.  It was an active night, but not for tuna.  We caught a small mako, a big blue shark,  and an 8' hammerhead shark.  A few mahi kept us busy all night as well.  Up on the troll in the AM we were attacked by skippies as they were hard to shake.  Then we knew we had some nice fish when both 36" Sterling Tackle splash bars went down at the same time.  We  boated two yellofin tunas.  Trolling on we raised a huge blue marlin that changed his mind at the last minute and two whites that thought twice as well.  Finally, we got one two stick...  A really nice white decided he wanted a Sterling Tackle rainbow daisy chain.  This one was approximately 85 Lbs.  All in all, everyone had a great time.  Our next offshore "open Boat" tuna trip is scheduled for Saturday September 5th to Sunday September 6th.  Capt. John

FLUKE FLUKE AND MORE FLUKE!

Been out a few trips lately for ocean fluke fishing.  It's been the same every trip with most fish just under sized, but quite a few keepers in there as well up to 5 LBS.  Big Seabass as well when we drift the rough spots as well as small blues in the mix.

Offshore action is RED HOT!  Book now to get in on it.
