Seafood Travels Up North
5/2/10: I heard about all the bass action up on the Shrewsbury Rocks, so I locked in the auto pilot on to this northern spot. We tried a few good readings along the way up but no takers. Upon ariving into the fleet of 100 boats, I was getting good readings down deep and we did have some light bird action as well. So we threw out some trolling gear and went to work. We did pick up one bass after working it hard. The bass were there today, but they just were not hungry. We switched over to jigging, but again nobody awake enough down there to want to eat. Today we had on board a great bunch, Mike and Ed Mooney, Carlee and Carl Carew, Greg Dechaine and R. Faulkner. Everyone today really enjoyed the time out there. It was 90 degrees on land and couldnt be more than 60 degrees out on the cool water. It's still early yet so, we have plenty more bass fishing time ahead... Some fish were caught in our usual spots down closer to home, so it's just a matter of time. On the way in we hit some nice size blues in 2'-4' of water in Barnegat bay. Capt. John
